Welcome!

I’m Rachel, and this space is where I write to make sense of a world that is both breathtakingly beautiful and unbearably broken.

For decades, I worked at the frontlines of humanitarian crises, leading a major emergency medical organisation and founding my own non-profit. I have lived and worked in conflict zones, among communities devastated by colonialism, and alongside those fighting for dignity and survival. As a university teacher, I had the privilege of guiding hundreds of students as they stepped into their own futures.

And then, in midlife, everything changed.

I stepped away from the career that had defined me. I turned inward. I began writing.

Now, through memoir, poetry, and fiction, I am sharing the stories I once carried quietly. Stories that illuminate the mystery and beauty of life. Stories that challenge, transform, and inspire. Stories that show over and over again that love and compassion are the cornerstones of our humanity.

What You’ll Find Here

At Wild Heart Written Soul, I explore:

🌿 Humanitarianism & Justice – Reflections on the world’s most pressing crises and the deep wisdom found in resilience and solidarity.

🌙 Family, Mystery & Transformation – The threads of intergenerational trauma, healing, and the lessons passed through blood and bone.

🔥 The Feminine & the Sacred – How reclaiming the wisdom long suppressed can help us heal ourselves and the world.

🖋️ Stories & Poetry – Nuggets of gold hidden in everyday moments, glimpses of the sacred in the mundane.

I hope you will decide to join me on this journey of reflection, of transformation, and, ultimately, of hope.
